Give me your word.......

It seems the days of truth, trust, and honesty have gone to the wayside. Do you remember when a man's handshake actually meant a "deal" or when someone gave you their word you could take it with honor. In recent times people have made comments like "I WILL get back with you" or "I will be contacting you soon" all for.......... *crickets*. Not a phone call, an email, sms...nothing.
Today of all times when we have the most of technology, where we can contact someone on the other side of the world with the utmost of information by a matter of moving our finger tips.

Unfortunately today seems to be full of empty promises and vague statements. Words without meaning, voices without truth. Of course there will be times when things step in the way, or we become distracted, or even the untimely forgetful absent mind. Yet at some point in time we have to remember those things, step to the plate and admit our short comings. Is that so bad? Isn't humiliation a catalyst for maturity and learning? Not a soul, you nor I, our neighbors, our parents, or our children will ever be right and perfect 100% of the time. We are human and we will fault and fall short.

Without honor, and without standing, we are despicable people, no longer worthy of trust. We need to hold to principles, oaths, and assurances we give and follow, and let others know our word has clout. If we don’t honor ourselves and our promise, then who will? For little by little, we are becoming nothing more than ‘Indian-givers’, allowing our honor to erode and leaving nothing but our vapid assurances to the contrary.

Matthew 12:36-37 "But I tell you that men will have to give account on the day of judgment for every careless word they have spoken. For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned."

Please do not judge me by the words written here for I myself am just as at fault. I learn from not only my mistakes but those made by the people whom I interact with. I write this today as a sort of peer focus to not only keep myself in check but the world revolving around me. I wrote this here just as we post pictures on the fridge or notes on the mirror... a reminder.
